Blog to increase targeted website traffic

In Part 1, "How to increase targeted website traffic”, we considered the importance of developing your buyer personas and the resulting keyword strategy. Now I want to illustrate how to utilise these keywords and start increasing the targeted traffic for your website

Blog, Blog and Blog again

Ok, so given that at this point you now know who you want to target and which keywords you plan to implement to ensure these ideal visitors can find you, it's the perfect time to begin creating relevant content. A business blog is with out doubt the best method of generating targeted traffic for your website.

SERIOUSLY! BLOGGING WORKS…

A company that blogs typical generates:

  • 55% more website visitors
  • 97% more inbound links
  • 126% more leads
  • 434% more indexed pages

Blogging is a tried and tested approach to accelerate website traffic and business results. But if you are like me and are sometimes sceptical of stats, you may be forgiven for thinking, this sounds too good to be true.

Let’s break it down to see how writing blogs can bring more qualified traffic to your site

As well as supplying your visitors with appealing and invaluable information which can stimulate recurring business and visits, blogging boosts the volume of indexed web pages and keyword use on your website.

Let’s pause for a moment so you can take a look at your website to see how many pages you have, then consider how often you update or add further copy?

Why is this important? Well... Google values the volume, quality and relevance of information you are offering to solve your visitor’s issues, answer their questions or help with their pain points. Additionally, Google monitors how frequently a website is updated, as this demonstrates that the website is still active and current.

Writing frequent high quality, keyword targeted blog articles, is the answer to both. Every time you publish a fresh blog article, you are adding new content to your website and consequently updating the site as another page is listed by Google. Remember also, that given your keywords are in-line with your buyer personas, the visitors you entice are going to be the right ones.

Let’s get more social

Promoting your content offers (ebooks, whitepapers, and how-tos etc) and blog articles on social media is another fantastic approach to drive targeted traffic to your website. Social media is designed to inspire information sharing. Individuals share your content with their networks of contacts and those contacts in turn share with theirs contacts, and so on... The best part of all of this is that people are more likely to trust a recommendation from a friend or colleague than receiving information from a stranger

Go fishing where the fish are swimming

If social media is new for you, I encourage you to first sign up for an account with several of the most popular social media platforms such as, Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn and Google+. When you are comfortable how each environment operates and how the users engage, take some time to assess the following:

  •   Which social media do your potential/customers use and communicate through?
  •   Where do they share with their networks?

If your plan for 2021 includes creating more leads or building brand awareness, then social media must be a part of your game plan. Social media will generate the kind of targeted traffic that is actively searching for your information. Who knows, they might even be ready to purchase.

So, what are you waiting for..? Start publishing those blogs to increase targeted traffic, add fresh content and index more pages with Google. Don’t forget the value of those social networks to spread the word about your new content.

Good luck, Thanks for reading, I would love to hear how you get on, so please leave your comments...!
